Ami Edwards

Ami Edwards

Executive Director

My name is Ami Edwards, and I have devoted the past 31 years to the field of early childhood education. I am a mother of two children and have been married to my husband, Marc, for 31 years. I am a graduate of BYU-Idaho. With over a decade of experience at LWISD, I am committed to advancing positive change within the school community at North Star Academy. My dedication centers on enhancing student achievement and furthering the campus culture. During my tenure at LWISD, I served as administrator at Tadpole Learning Center, working with its youngest and most vulnerable students.

Presently, I hold the position of Vice President of Events for Lake Worth Education Foundation, a role in which I have served for more than a year. This experience provides me with valuable perspective and insight into working within the community I serve. Additionally, I have worked as a program evaluator for both the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Maryland State Department of Education, directly influencing programming and teaching that impacts student outcomes. I am prepared to devote the necessary attention and commitment required to serve the North Star Academy community effectively.

I am extremely excited about this unique opportunity! I look forward to meeting you all.

Taylor Wilkinson

Taylor Wilkinson

Program Coordinator

Hi! My name is Taylor, and I’m excited to join the North Star Academy team as the Program Coordinator. I bring over 10 years of experience in hospitality management, with a background in food and beverage, front office operations, hotel administration, and human resources. I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of North Texas, along with an Associate’s degree in Hospitality Management. While I’m beginning a new chapter in early childhood education, I’m passionate about creating a welcoming, organized, and nurturing environment where children, families, and staff feel supported. As a mom of two daughters—one of whom proudly calls North Star Academy her “home away from home”—I’m especially excited to be part of a community that means so much to my family. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my girls, attending sporting events and concerts, and curling up with a good book

Anita Añez is the Education Director at North Star Academy, having joined the team in 2023 as a Lead Infant Teacher. With a robust background in child care, special education, and medicine Anita has a unique perspective on child development that allowed her to progress quickly to a mentor teacher, helping to guide and train her fellow educators.
In the Fall of 2025 Anita gladly took on the role of Education Director with the singular goal to support the teachers, children, and families of North Star Academy by fostering a warm, engaging, and developmentally rich learning environment.
As a mother of three, Anita brings so much love, knowledge, and dedication to our early education program. Anita believes every child deserves a safe, loving, and
engaging environment where they can thrive and discover their full potential. We are blessed to have Anita on our team, knowing that she will continue to be a valuable source of support for our passionate team of educators.
