North Star Academy is proud to offer a private Kindergarten program that is like no other. It is our desire to provide a curriculum that has a Biblical foundation with a teaching style that reaches every learner. We will meet children both inside and outside of their comfort zone to encourage critical thinking, hands on learning, and problem solving.

Class will be held outdoors on many occasions to engage all of the child's senses, and custom work environments will be arranged indoors to foster self paced learning and group activities.

This program will not only exceed the objectives required in TEKS, but will help children recognize their God given purpose in life, and supply them with Biblical truths to face the questions in today's world.

What Makes This Program Different?
The Curriculum we have chosen is not a one size fits all Kindergarten program. The Phonics program was chosen specifically because it can be accelerated depending on the level of each child in the class. A typical Kindergarten class will focus on one letter per week, learning to recognize this letter and learn it's sound. While some children may need this pace, Horizon's Phonics program allows us to advance at the pace of the child, with the ability to attain a 1st grade reading level. We will also be including a variety of kinesthetic learning opportunities in every subject. We will have much LESS focus on worksheets and more focus on physically learning. Science will not be taught by looking at a book, but by experimenting with every day activities to learn foundational Science concepts.

What is most important to us is that every lesson will have a Biblical backing. Your child will not just learn World/American History, they will learn HIS Story, understand the timeline in the Bible, and know what God expects of them as his stewards.

Sensory Learning
We plan to offer as many hands-on learning opportunities as possible. What better way to learn why God makes it rain than to go outside in our rain-boots and use all of our senses to see it happen. Instead of coloring the letter 'J' we will use a jump rope to shape the letter and jump around the shape.

Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle
We believe it is important to start healthy habits young. Students will have a 40 minute Physical Education class taught by a certified coach Monday through Thursday and will receive a total of 1 hour of recess per day
