Infant I
Any one who has had to leave their baby for the first time knows how difficult this can be. No one can care for your baby like you can, but North Star Academy will make every effort possible to mirror the environment you have created at home. Our caregivers will work with you on following the schedule you have set with your child or offer help in establishing one if wanted.
We will separate the youngest infants that are not yet mobile so they can be given as much one-on-one time, hugs and cuddling as possible. This separation also allows younger babies to enjoy needed floor time without mobile children to contend with.
Baby Steps
It is never too early to begin teaching children. Wee Learn Christian
Curriculum is a unit-based curriculum that sets themes for teachers to work
with bi-weekly. Our infant teachers will talk with your baby about what they
can see and touch, show them pictures of other growing babies, and tell them
how much they are loved by God, their parents and our teachers! All activities
are based on each child’s individual developmental stage. We will work
on improving gross and fine motor skills while exploring the world around
them.
My Own Space
By separating the immobile babies from the mobile ones, we have the opportunity
to designate a specific sleeping space as well as specific toys each child
will play with on a daily basis. We hope to reduce the spread of germs by
keeping a very clean and personalized environment.
Including the Family
A child’s family is the most important part of his or her life. We wish
to include your family in the North Star family. A letter will be sent
home at the end of each unit explaining what we have been working on. It will
also offer activities that you can complete with your child at home so that
they know you are interested in what they are learning. Teachers will complete
developmental assessments of each child to share with you along with the next
steps for moving forward. We will ask that parents complete a progress report
on North Star and your child’s teacher so that we will understand how
you feel your child is progressing emotionally, physically and mentally. Continually
working with parents will allow us to perfect our curriculum and teaching strategies
so that we are offering the best service possible to you and your children.
